LOPTTA junior players
lead nat’l team in Laos

Young paddlers from Negros Occidental, trained at the Lopue’s Table Tennis Association center in Bacolod City, were tapped to join the national junior team that represents the country in the 8th South East Asia Table Tennis Table Tennis Championships 2012 that kicked off Wednesday in Vietiane, Laos.

The LOPTTA members, who are donning the national colors in the Laos tournament are NOPSSCEA high school champion and current No. 1 junior player John Paul Gubaton with teammate No. 5 player John Michael Castro.

LOPTTA players Emy Rose Dael and Rose Jean Fadol also joined Gubaton and Castro in the national juniors team.

Both Gubaton and Fadol are members of the University of Negros Occdental-Recoletos table tennis team that captured the championship in the NOPSSCEA 32ND Season.

Completing the Philippine junior’s team in Laos are four Manila players with Noel Gonzalez as head coach for the girls’ team and Lauro Crisostomo for the boys squad.

LOPTTA president Diotay Lopue said the inclusion of the four players from his Bacolod City will help improve their skills.

“This is part of their International exposure under the program of Table Tennis Association of the Philippines president Ting Ledesma, who aims to develop table tennis in the Philippines from the grassroots,” Lopue said.

Recently, the LOPTTA president sponsored some of his junior LOPTTA players who saw action in a friendly match against members of the Hongkong national junior’s team.*NAB
