softball champions

A resolution congratulating Charmaine Joy Oria, Michelle Lentija, and Andrea Mae Gonzales of Bacolod City as champions in the Softball Big League World Series 2012 held in Kalamazoo, Michigan, U.S.A., was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.

The resolution was authored by Councilors Homer Bais, Dindo Ramos and Al Victor Espino.

Conquering challenges both on and off the field, the Philippine team captured the Big League Softball World Series title with a powerful 14-2 victory over the United Sates-West bet, Westchester, California on August 1 to 8, the resolution said.

The team that almost did not make it to the tournament ended its campaign in a blaze of glory, it said.

The resolution said the three members of the team, namely, Oria, Lentija and Gonzales are from Bacolod City and are former Bacolod softball players who have been actively participating in international softball tournaments during their high school years.

It said Lentija is formerly of Domingo LacsonNational High School, Oria from St. Joseph School-La Salle and Gonzales of Bacolod City National High School.* CGS
