LOPTTA junior players
lead nat’l team in Laos

Young paddlers from Negros Occidental, trained at the Lopue’s Table Tennis Association center in Bacolod City, were tapped to join the national junior team that represents the country in the 8th South East Asia Table Tennis Table Tennis Championships 2012 that kicked off Wednesday in Vietiane, Laos.

The LOPTTA members, who are donning the national colors in the Laos tournament are NOPSSCEA high school champion and current No. 1 junior player John Paul Gubaton with teammate No. 5 player John Michael Castro.

LOPTTA players Emy Rose Dael and Rose Jean Fadol also joined Gubaton and Castro in the national juniors team.

City dads commend
softball champions

A resolution congratulating Charmaine Joy Oria, Michelle Lentija, and Andrea Mae Gonzales of Bacolod City as champions in the Softball Big League World Series 2012 held in Kalamazoo, Michigan, U.S.A., was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.

The resolution was authored by Councilors Homer Bais, Dindo Ramos and Al Victor Espino.

Conquering challenges both on and off the field, the Philippine team captured the Big League Softball World Series title with a powerful 14-2 victory over the United Sates-West bet, Westchester, California on August 1 to 8, the resolution said.

Dumaguete ready for
PCCL tourney

The regional finals of the Philippine Collegiate Champions League for basketball will be held October 13 to 16 at the Lamberto Macias Sports and Cultural Center in Dumaguete City.

Joe Guirit, City Sports Consultant and PCCL Dumaguete-In-Charge said participating champion teams from Bacolod, Iloilo, Ormoc and Tagbilaran will compete during the event.

Tagbilaran will play a knock-out game against the local Governor’s Cup champion, Asian College, on Saturday to qualify in the regional finals.
