Bacolod Rep. Anthony Golez Jr. said that, after meeting several times with Education Secretary Armin Luistro, he is confident that Bacolod City will get its share of the budget from the Department of Education for the improvement of education in the city, a press release from his office said.
For 2012, more than P46 million is earmarked for physical facilities projects for schools in Bacolod City. Physical facilities projects include the construction and rehabilitation of classrooms, construction of water facilities, and procurement of furniture, the press release said.
The shortage of teachers will also be lessened in Bacolod City with the allocation of 22 regular teachers for 2012, it said, adding that in 2013, over P43 million will be poured into Bacolod City for more physical facilities projects and an additional 136 regular teachers positions will be opened-up for Bacolod City schools.
The press release also said that, for ensuring that Bacolod City will get a portion of DepEd's fund for the improvement of education in the city, Golez will be tasked to identify the schools and teachers covering the budget allocated by the House of Representatives to DepEd for Bacolod City, it said.
DepEd Undersecretary Rizalino Rivera stated in a letter that DepEd is firm in its commitment to address classroom and teacher item shortages in the district by the year 2015 as declared by His Excellency President Benigno S. Aquino III in his State of the Nation Address, the press release said.* back
