PESO helps jobseekers
attract jobs, DOLE says

The Public Employment Service Offices mostly in local government units not only bridge the gap between jobs and jobseekers but help also jobseekers attract jobs, Department of Labor and Employment Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said in a press release from DOLE.

Baldoz led the 12th National PESO Congress at the Baguio Convention Center in Baguio City that ends today, the press release said.

PESO managers and staff across all regions have gathered for the three-day congress with the theme “Tugon ng PESO: Wastong Trabaho at Agarang Serbisyo”, it also said.

Among the resource persons at the event were from the International Labor Organization, Asian Development Bank, Philippine Chamber of Agriculture and Food, Inc., Philippine Travel Agencies Association, and the Business Processing Association of the Philippines shall.

Created by virtue of Republic Act No. 8759 or the PESO Act of 1999, the PESO is a non-fee charging multi-employment service facility mandated to carry out employment opportunities for all and to strengthen and expand the existing employment facilitation service machineries of the government, particularly at the local levels, the press release said.

In Bacolod City, the PESO regularly updates the public on recruitment activities both for local and overseas jobs, the press release added.*
