The Regional Development Council in Central Visayas yesterday endorsed the bid of Negros Oriental to host the 2013 Palarong Pambansa, a government press release said.
Negros Oriental Gov. Roel Degamo said the event will help boost tourism, sports and other socio-economic developments in the province and in Region 7.
Earlier Bohol and Cebu provinces also supported the bid of Negros Oriental as it has adequate facilities and resources to host the Palaro, the press release said.
This year, the province had hosted the 2012 POC-PSC National Games to show its capability to host a multi-sports event competition.
Meanwhile, the RDC-7 also supported the establishment of three-unit truck-mounted mobile water purification system for Negros Oriental.
The project worth P4,250,000 will be stationed at strategic areas of the three congressional districts of the province. The project was identified as a pressing need, after the 6.9 magnitude earthquake cut off the supply of water due to badly-damaged water pipes and reservoirs, the press release said.
It is also an answer to recurring hydro-meteorological hazards that threaten the continuous supply of potable water, the press release added.*
