Thirty-five mountain guides recently went through a five-day training on Mountain Guide Emergency Rescue at the La Carlota City Visitor’s Lounge in Brgy. Ara-al, La Carlota City, a Philippine Information Agency press release said.
The training was conducted by the Office of the Park Superintendent of the Mount Kanla-on Natural Park and the Provincial Tourism Office.
Park Superintendent Cecil Cañada, said the training was held October 8 to 12 with mountain guides from Bago, La Carlota and Canlaon City, Negros Oriental as participants.
It aims to organize and accredit the guides as Ambassadors of Goodwill of the Mount Kanlaon Natural Park, the press release said.
Discussed the training were MKNP Features and Profiles, the Park Rules and Regulations on Mountaineering, Disaster Response Standard Operation Procedures and Protocols, the Negros Occidental Ecotourism Program, Kanlaon Volcano Activity and Hazard and Gender and Development.
The Provincial Disaster Management Team provided the knowledge, information and life-saving skills to make them become effective and responsible guides, the press release said.* back
