P2B budget for 2013
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. said he submitted a proposed 2013 budget of P2,020,399,008 for the Negros Occidental provincial government to the Sangguniang Panlalawigan yesterday, for approval.

The P2 billion budget is up by P161,372,872 over this year's budget of P1,859,026,136, he said, pointing out that the Internal Revenue Allotment share of the provincial government next year is also increasing.

Provincial Budget Officer Jose Percival Salado Jr. said the P2 billion for next year's budget will come from the province's IRA share of P1.82 billion, back IRA of P16 million, local income of P72.9 million and Economic Enterprise earnings of P108 million.

The province budget this year comes from its IRA share of P1.66 billion, back IRA of P16 million, local income of P68.6 million and Economic Enterprise earnings of P106 million, Salado said.

Meanwhile, the governor said the provincial government will fully turn over the operating costs of the Negros Occidental District Jail in Barangay Tabunan, Bago City, to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology next year, as earlier agreed upon.

The BJMP took over the management of the district jail in June 2011, but the provincial government has continued to fund the food of the inmates and the maintenance of the facility.*CPG
