‘Marijuana, shabu' sachets seized
from 2 women nabbed in buy-bust

Five sachets of suspected shabu and several pieces of dried marijuana leaves and fruiting tops were seized by members of the Bacolod City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group from two women they arrested in a buy-bust operation in Brgy. 22, Wednesday.

CAIDSOTG head, Supt. Santiago Rapiz, identified those arrested as Gina Villarin, 42, of Purok Mapalaron in Brgy. 22, and Mirasol Diane, 26, of Purok Kawayanan in Brgy. Vista Alegre, Bacolod.

Villarin was apprehended after she gave a small sachet of suspected shabu to a police poseur-buyer in exchange for P300, Rapiz said.

Another big heat-sealed sachet and three elongated sachets of the banned substance, illegal drug paraphernalia, a cellular phone and P3,800 in cash were also recovered from her after her arrest, Rapiz also said.

He said Diane was arrested at the house of Villarin, from whom they recovered the dried marijuana leaves.

Villarin is not included in the drugs watch list of CAIDSTOG as she has never been arrested for a similar offense, while Diane's live-in partner had been apprehended by CAIDSTOG earlier this year in a buy-bust operation, and is now detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology.

Rapiz said they believe the illegal drugs recovered from the women were intended for the MassKara festival. He said they are still investigating where the suspects got the items they sell.*APN

‘Abandoned
vehicle claimed'

The car abandoned at a sugarcane plantation in Brgy. Cabug, Bacolod City, Tuesday has been claimed by a nephew of the owner yesterday, Station 9 commander, Chief Insp. Placido Gentoleo said yesterday.

Gentoleo said the car had not been carnapped. The driver and at the same time mechanic, identified only as a certain “Edgar”, took it from the auto-shop and left it there for still unknown reason.

Investigation showed that the maroon Toyota Corolla with plate number FDH347 is registered at the Land Transportation Office in Calinog town, Iloilo province, under the name of Pregrina Senado of Cabatuan, in the same province.

Gentoleo said the car, however, had been sold to Antonio de Oca of Bacolod City.

He added that despite what happened, De Oca has signified that he is not interested in filing charges against the driver.*APN
