Security preparations for the three-day Electric MassKara at the Lacson Street tourism strip in Bacolod City that will kick off tonight are now in place with the deployment of 530 uniformed policemen in the area, City Police Operations Branch chief, Senior Insp. Jeffrey Attunaga, said yesterday.
The Bacolod Traffic Authority Office -Traffic Management Unit is also implementing a traffic rerouting scheme from today until Sunday.
Partial closure will start at noon, and total closure at 4 p.m. for vehicles entering Lacson Street or from 5 th Street to 22 nd Street.
TMU Head, Chief Insp. Luisito Acebuche, said all vehicles from the north, must turn right to 27 th Street, turn left to Gatuslao Street, straight ahead to the downtown area, all the way to destination.
All vehicles from the south taking Lacson Street, must turn right to Rizal Street, to any way going to B. S. Aquino, turn left to B. S. Aquino, turn right to Lacson/ Ramos St., all the way to destination.
Traffic will shut down starting 4 p.m. at the Bacolod Public Plaza until Oct. 22.
Street parties at the Tourism Strip will continue all night long starting today to Sunday, and at the Bacolod Public Plaza from today to Monday, MassKara organizers said.
Aside from the uniformed policemen who will be deployed at the Lacson tourism strip, there will also be intelligence officers in plain clothes around the place, Attunaga said.
Station 2 policemen, in coordination with the Public Safety Company of the Bacolod Police, will also be at the Electric MassKara site to ensure the safety of revelers, he added.
Attunaga advised revelers not to show off their expensive gadgets and not to wear expensive jewelry in order not to attract thieves, and car owners are told not to leave valuables in their vehicles.*APN
