Vice guv, 5 others asked
to appear at DOJ Monday
BY CARLA GOMEZ

Negros Occidental Vice Governor Genaro Alvarez Jr. and five others who have been tagged in the murder of Judge Henry Arles are scheduled to appear before the Department of Justice 2 p.m. Monday to subscribe their counter affidavits, lawyer Frank Britanico said yesterday.

The vice governor, who has denied involvement in the crime along with all the other respondents, yesterday said that if he must appear before the DOJ, he will be there.

Others summoned to appear before the DOJ to subscribe their counter affidavits along with Alvarez are Revolutionary Proletarian Army-Alex Boncayao Brigade members Nelson Rustom Puro, Alejandro Capunong, Marvin Salve and Gerald Tabujara, and Ilog government employee Emmanuel Medez, said Britanico, who is a brother-in-law of the murdered judge.

Complainants Albert Arles and Philip Arles, sons of the slain judge, are also scheduled to subscribe to their reply to the counter affidavits of the vice governor and Medes, Britanico said.

The Arleses will also submit and subscribe to their rejoinder to the reply of Ilog Mayor Paul Alvarez, one of the respondents in the case, and submit additional evidence against the mayor, he added.

There is no schedule for respondents Cauayan Vice Mayor Gerry Tabujara, and RPA-ABB members Eddie Fortunado and Jessie Daguia to subscribe their counter affidavits since until now the DOJ has not received any document or representation from them, Britanico said.

The judge was gunned down in Ilog town while driving home on April 24.*CPG
