St. Paul University-Dumaguete
preparing for 108th anniversary

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

St. Paul University-Dumaguete, the first-ever private Catholic school in Negros Oriental, will celebrate its 108th Founders’ Day anniversary on October 25 to 29, on the theme “Bringing Paulinians Back to its Core Mission of Evangelization”.

SPUD External Affairs director, Rafael Duhaylungsod, said activities lined up for the celebration are the opening program and a mass, invitational games, acoustic night, academic competitions, students’ night, mass demonstration, partners’ day, a cultural night and a talipapa exhibit.

A grand parade around the major thoroughfares of Dumaguete City will be held Oct. 26, and the grand alumni homecoming, titled “Tapok 2012”, will start 3 p.m. on Oct. 27, he added.

SPUD was established on October 29, 1904 by the Sisters of St. Paul of Chartres, a congregation based in Chartres, France. It initially offered elementary education, and in 1920, adopted the high school curriculum, and then college degree courses. It was granted university status during its centennial anniversary celebration in 2004.*JFP
