LTO holding consultations
on proposed motor plates

The Land Transportation Office conducted a forum on the proposed standardization of motor vehicle plates yesterday at Robinsons Atrium in Dumaguete City.

The forum was attended by more than 100 representatives from the transport groups, motor vehicle dealers, law enforcement agencies and government offices.

LTO Region 7 director Raul Aguiluz said a series of fora will be held in the Central Visayas, including Oriental Negros, to collate opinions and suggestions for inclusion in the final proposal, before it is approved and implemented in 2013.

St. Paul University-Dumaguete
preparing for 108th anniversary

St. Paul University-Dumaguete, the first-ever private Catholic school in Negros Oriental, will celebrate its 108th Founders’ Day anniversary on October 25 to 29, on the theme “Bringing Paulinians Back to its Core Mission of Evangelization”.

SPUD External Affairs director, Rafael Duhaylungsod, said activities lined up for the celebration are the opening program and a mass, invitational games, acoustic night, academic competitions, students’ night, mass demonstration, partners’ day, a cultural night and a talipapa exhibit.

A grand parade around the major thoroughfares of Dumaguete City will be held Oct. 26, and the grand alumni homecoming, titled “Tapok 2012”, will start 3 p.m. on Oct. 27, he added.

Erap’s son
adopts ‘Estrada’ name

San Juan Rep. Juan Victor (JV) Ejercito, the son of former President Joseph Estrada with Silaynon Guia Guanzon-Gomez, is now using the name of JV Ejercito Estrada in his senatorial bid next year.

Using the Estrada family name catapulted him to number three from nine in the recent Social Weather Station survey in the list of the top 12 senators, in the 2013 elections, JV admitted.

JV’s bid for a senatorial seat is his first venture into national politics. He served as mayor of San Juan from 2001 to 2010. He also won as congressman during the 2010 election, representing San Juan in the House of Representatives.
