Suspect’s slay solves
several crimes – PNP

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

The death of suspected gun-for-hire Pic Raymond Longno resolved several crimes not only in Bacolod City but also in other areas in Negros Occidental, City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said.

Longno, alias “Small Boy”, 37, of Malaspina Street, Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod was walking near his house at about 5 p.m. when a silver Honda Civic reportedly bumped him, then two bonnet-wearing men alighted from it and opened fire at him.

Longno was rushed to the Bacolod Doctor’s Hospital, where he died while being treated from multiple wounds at about 6 p.m.

De la Paz said that, aside from hotel owner Johnny Chua, whom he reportedly shot and killed on Saturday, Longno is also linked to the killing of a sugar planter Filomeno Paragat in Talisay City, Negros Occidental in December 2007.

He said Longno was also tagged as the suspect in the fatal shooting of businessman Remo Javellona in Talisay City on Nov. 3, 2009 and in the assassination attempt on former Barangay Banago Captain Roel Cordova and his aide in November 2008.

De la Paz added that Longno was also positively identified by witnesses as the same person who robbed M Lhuillier financial services-Singcang Branch and the Shell Gasoline Station-Tangub Branch last week.

During the time of former BCPO Director Senior Supt. Celestino Guara, Longno also reportedly robbed two lending firms at Rizal and Burgos Streets, taking cash and several security guard firearms, and also assaulted Station 1 policemen who were trying to arrest him on November 18, 2009, police records showed.

Longno was arrested last week after Regional Trial Court Judge Pepito Gellada issued a bench warrant against him for not showing up at the court hearings for frustrated murder and attempted murder cases was freed later.

He was however, rearrested after visiting a friend at Police Station 4, this time by virtue of an arrest warrant for robbery issued by Regional Trial Court Judge Eliseo Geolingo, who set his bail at P100,000.

De la Paz said they believe several personalities must have been coddling Longno and that his killing may have been triggered by a personal grudge.*APN
