Two killed, 2 hurt in
Manapla mishap
BY GILBERT BAYORAN

A driver and his passenger died, and two others were injured in collision between two trucks Tuesday in Manapla, Negros Occidental, police said.

The two fatalities were identified by the Manapla police as Jesmar Fernandez and Jeric Tajanlangit, and the injured as Wilmer Tagsic and Reynaldo Dormitorio.

Investigations by the Manapla police show that the Fuzo Canter truck loaded with 132 sacks of fertilizers and driven by Fernandez, slammed into the rear of a Prime Mover trailer truck, that had stopped at the highway of Crossing Central in Brgy. Purisima, Manapla.

SPO3 Eugenio Maguliman, Manapla police traffic chief, yesterday said Fernandez was trying to overtake a Ceres Liner passenger bus. Failing to do so, his truck, instead, hit the rear of the trailer, loaded with sugarcane.

Fernandez and Tajanlangit died on the spot, while Tagsic and Dormitorio were brought to the Corazon Locsin Regional Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City.

The driver of the trailer truck, identified as Reynaldo Espino, is being investigated by the Manapla police.*GPB
