Businesswoman Grace Ibuna, the partner of the late Rep. Ignacio Arroyo Jr. (Neg. Occ., 5 th District), yesterday said she is supporting the reelection bid of Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. and Rep. Alejandro Mirasol.
I believe in them and what they have done, she said.
Ibuna, who spoke at a 5 th district meet in Hinigaran town yesterday, said she challenged the teachers to teach parents and students that there is a difference between politicians and leaders.
She warned against politicians who will convert the happy and peaceful fifth district into a war, mob-style godfather-run place, Ibuna said.
Ibuna also said she told those present at the gathering to check the track records of people who are running for office to see what they have done to improve the lives of the people, or if they are merely lying.
Meanwhile, Ibuna said she is still waiting for the Commission on Elections decision on whether it will accredit her party list group Movement of Women for Change and Reform (MELCHORA) for the 2013 polls.
Ibuna said she already appeared before the COMELEC to explain the advocacy of MELCHORA, which has members in 12 regions.
If it's her mission and God's will then maybe it will be approved, she said.
MELCHORA aims to address obsolete laws on marriage and abused women and children, she said.
She also wants to institutionalize therapy centers for those who can not afford medical attention for depression and abuse, Ibuna said.
I also want to strengthen the laws to assist single parents, she added.*CPG.
