Old grudges triggered the shooting and beheading of a farmer Sunday in Sitio Antawan, Brgy. Kanlandog, Murcia, Negros Occidental, the police said yesterday.
The head and body of the victim identified as Renato Tanamal, 48, were reunited yesterday at a funeral parlor in Murcia, a day after the brutal incident took place.
Inspector Celjun Nemenio, Murcia police officer-in-charge, said the suspect, identified Randy Resotase, had brought with him the severed head of Tanamal, while fleeing. He, however, left it along the way, while being pursued by the police, who responded to the incident, in Bgry. Caliban, Murcia, Nemenio said.
Investigation of the Murcia police showed that the son-in-law of Tanamal, whose identity was not available yesterday, was tagged by Resotase as the suspect in the killing of his brother, several months ago.
Failing to get the suspect, Resotase shifted his anger to Tanamal, whom he allegedly shot thrice in the head, before beheading him, Nemenio said.
The shooting of Tanamal was witnessed by his wife, Maria Fe.
Nemenio said the body of Tanamal was retrieved at his home yesterday by Murcia policemen. They brought it to a funeral parlor in Murcia, where his head was also brought Sunday night.
On the same day, Louie Tebayde, 14, was stabbed dead allegedly by Melchor Cahilig in Hacienda San Ramon, Brgy.Manalad, Ilog.
Tebayde sustained to four stab wounds and died, while being treated at the Gumercindo Garcia Memorial Hospital in Kabankalan City, police records show.
Senior Inspector Joshua Villasis, Ilog police chief, said Cahilig was later arrested by the police in front of a bus terminal in Kabankalan City.* GPB back
