1,052 health workers
get NOCHP cards

BY CARLA GOMEZ

Gov. Alfredo Marañon Jr. distributed Negros First Family Health Cards to 1,052 health workers from various parts of Negros Occidental yesterday.

The governor said the distribution of the health cards at the Negros Occidental Multipurpose Gym in Bacolod City yesterday was the first of several phases, until all of the 6,000 health workers of the province are covered.

The cards will ensure health coverage for them under the Negros Occidental Comprehensive Health Care Program, the governor said.

He also said health workers are overworked and underpaid and deserve health care assistance from the government.

Health workers receive only allowances from local government units and barangays.

Meanwhile, Marañon assured that funds for the provincial government scholars will be released soon. The provincial cashier will release the amounts, he said, pointing out that the money for it does not come from the pockets of politicians, anyway.*CPG
