MANILA – The Bureau of Internal Revenue maintains its stance against using ad valorem system or according to the value as the basis on excise tax in the country.
BIR Commissioner Kim Henares said it will be difficult for the government to implement the ad valorem tax because although there are suggested retail prices for all the products offered in the market, the prices of sin products have a very wide range depending on where these are sold.
She said SRP is only ideal when you buy the product in supermarkets.
25 Negrenses to
train in Japan
Twenty-five young workers from Negros Occidental will undergo intensive skills training for three years in Japan under the POEA-JITCO Technical Internship Training Program, a press release from the Capitol said.
The project is being implemented by the Confederal Project Manpower Agency Inc., a POEA licensed placement agency, managed by Alan Nuega.
The 14th batch of workers will be trained in highly skilled welding and painting works at Hiroshima Marine World, a shipbuilding company in Hiroshima, Japan.
PHL, Mexican Customs tie-up
MANILA – Bureau of Customs Commissioner Ruffy Biazon and Mexican Customs General Administrator Gerardo Perdomo yesterday signed an agreement on Mutual Administrative Assistance on Customs Matters that would be beneficial for both countries, a government press release said.
Biazon said the agreement would help boost the country’s trade and facilitate enhanced border control and protection between the two countries.
“The Agreement practically tightened the customs operational procedures between the Philippines and Mexico. This would eventually translate in more efficient revenue collection for all trade between the two countries,” he said.
