Sibulan to benefit
from 4Ps: DSWD

Sibulan town in Negros Oriental is among the latest of local government units in Region 7 to be covered by the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program, a government press release said.

In her letter to Sibulan Mayor Marcela Grampon-Bartoces, Department of Social Welfare and Development 7 director, Evelyn Macapobre, said that 1,241 potential households in Sibulan have been identified for the 4Ps program.

They were considered after meeting the requirements of eligibility, like being residents of the poorest town, having child/children aged zero to 14 years old, presence of a pregnant household member at the time of the assessment, and households whose economic condition is equal to or below the provincial poverty threshold, she said in the press release.

The 4Ps is the national government’s human development program implemented by DSWD through the conditional cash transfer scheme for the health and education of poor households across the country.

Registration and validation of potential beneficiaries in Sibulan will be scheduled, with the LGU expected to ensure the 100 percent attendance rate of the beneficiaries, that is the final step in their inclusion in the program, Macapobre said in the press release.

Connie Rosales of the Sibulan Information Office said a 4Ps orientation has been scheduled first week of September, where the registration and organization of working teams for the community assembly and list-up will be discussed, and the final list of the beneficiaries will be known, the press release also said.

Sibulan is a fourth class town in Negros Oriental with a population of 51,519, based on the 2010 census. It has 15 barangays and is bordered in the south by Dumaguete City, the press release added.*
