Robbery raps filed vs. man

Robbery charges were filed against a suspected hold-upper before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday, six days after he reportedly victimized a lodging house customer at the city downtown area.

Station 1 commander, Chief Insp. Adonis Rosales, said that the charges were filed against Jonathan Celestial, 34, of Purok Saturn, Brgy. Handumanan, Bacolod.

The complainant, whose name the police withheld, of Iloilo City, said he went to the lodging house at Rosario Street, Bacolod, with a commercial sex worker identified as a certain “Zaira”, adding they later argued over the payment for her services.

“Zaira” left but later came back with Celestial, who held-up the complainant at knife point, and took his cellular phone valued at P5,000 and P5,000 cash, the police said.

A follow-up operation resulted in the arrest of Celestial, with the help of “Zaira”, whom the police caught at the city downtown area, Rosales said.

A homemade firearm or “sulpak”, and a 9-and-a-half inch long bladed weapon were seized from Celestial’s possession, police records show.

Meanwhile, four unidentified men armed with bladed weapons held up an Internet café customer at the Bacolod downtown area at about 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Peter Urbanozo, 20, of Regent Pearl Homes, Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod, said he was standing outside the Internet café at San Juan Street, when the suspects held him up and took his wristwatch with undetermined market value, and two cellular phones worth P7,300.*RBQ
