Exemption from
NSTP sought

A resolution requesting all colleges and universities in Bacolod City to excuse all Sangguniang Kabataan chairpersons from attending National Service Training Program classes during the weekend, was approved by the Bacolod Sangguniang Panlungsod Wednesday.

The resolution said the SK chairmen who have been doing community service as barangay officials of their respective barangays are already equipped with the mandated training and seminars that enhance their capabilities as youth leaders of the community.

It said the NSTP classes required by R.A. 9163 is aimed at enhancing the civic consciousness and defense preparedness in the youth by developing the ethics of service and patriotism.

The resolution said the SK chairmen of Bacolod have been undergoing training and seminars conducted by the Department of Interior and Local Government and other government agencies.

NSTP classes being held every weekend, the only days when these SK chairpersons have the time to be with their constituents and plan their activities and programs it said.

The resolution was authored by Councilor Dindo Ramos and co-authored by Councilor Keith Emmanuel Ramos.*CGS
