P69.7 million readied for
4Ps beneficiaries

The Department of Social Welfare and Development in Negros Occidental will release a retroactive payment of P69.7 million to Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program beneficiaries from 24 local government units in the province.

Dionela Madrona, provincial grievance officer of DSWD, said the amount is for the period from July to September 2011 with 75,000 households whose monthly stipend were reduced due to false and lack of information, non-compliance with the provisions, and minor offenses that resulted in their removal from the program.

She said they are consolidating the rest of the beneficiaries who will be entitled to the retroactive payment from October 2011 onwards.

Madrona also appealed to beneficiaries to faithfully follow the requirements by sending their children to school and have monthly check ups at their health centers to avoid disqualification.

She said the program teaches parents to motivate and send their children to school. She added that they have received reports from the Department of Education that absenteeism has reduced.

She also noted that there is an influx of patients in the health centers but DSWD made sure that there is enough supply of medicine and other l needs of patients.

Meanwhile, all the 60 barangays of Bacolod City are covered by the Pantawid Pamilya program except, for Brgy. 37, which is identified as the business area of the city. *LTG
