Benitez still hoping to
keep UNA intact

Rep. Alfredo Abelardo Benitez (Neg. Occ., 3 rd District) said yesterday that he is still hoping that a second meeting of the top leaders of Negros Occidental will prevent a break-up of the United Negros Alliance.

Benitez said he is waiting for the return of Rep. Alfredo Marañon III (Neg. Occ., 2 nd District) and Rep. Jeffery Ferrer (Neg. Occ., 4 th District) from Singapore, so a second meeting can be set this week.

The two solons had gone to Singapore with some mayors of Negros Occidental, he said.

Two members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team who were responding to an incident of alarm and scandal in Bago City, Negros Occidental, met a tragedy, when one of them was shot and killed, and a minor was also shot dead Friday.

Worse, the suspect, is Antonio Tinero, a BPAT executive officer of Brgy. Poblacion in Bago City, Supt. David Cachumbo, who assumed command of the Bago police also on Friday, said.

The fatalities were identified by the police as BPAT member Crisante Camposano, 40, and Napoleon Rio III, 17.

Ten young women are vying for the 2012 MassKara Queen crown, as Bacolod City celebrates the 33rd MassKara Festival in October.

The MassKara Queen finalists are Tiziani Ybañez, Daphne Molenaar, Samyah Al-Dossary, Ena Velasco, Rachel Malunes, Kris Gicaro, Mara Delaminez, Kaye Dumancas, Danielle Villaflor, and Dominique Abayon.

This was announced yesterday by ABS-CBN Bacolod, the official production group for this year's pageant, in partnership with the Silver MassKara Festival Organization Inc., organizer of the festival since 2004.
