10 MassKara Queen
bets named

Ten young women are vying for the 2012 MassKara Queen crown, as Bacolod City celebrates the 33rd MassKara Festival in October.

The MassKara Queen finalists are Tiziani Ybañez, Daphne Molenaar, Samyah Al-Dossary, Ena Velasco, Rachel Malunes, Kris Gicaro, Mara Delaminez, Kaye Dumancas, Danielle Villaflor, and Dominique Abayon.

This was announced yesterday by ABS-CBN Bacolod, the official production group for this year's pageant, in partnership with the Silver MassKara Festival Organization Inc., organizer of the festival since 2004.

Chosen from among 25 hopefuls, the ladies went through rigid screenings and interviews from a select panel, Carmela Arcolas-Gamboa, MQ 2012 executive producer, said.

The panel included Bacolod Councilor Sonya Verdeflor, Inday Tolentino, Ivy Visitacion, Glenn Guacena, Alexis Danica “Nikki” Drilon, Agnes Marie Therese Chang, Ryan Gamboa and Yasmin Pascual-Dormido.

The candidates had their first photo shoot Saturday at the ABS-CBN Bacolod Broadcast Complex, where they also picked out their official numbers for the pageant, and later met with their designers, Lino Ramos, Tony de Ramos, Jim Makani, Rudy Samontesa and John-John Ditching.

The MQ Final 10 will pay a courtesy call on Mayor Evelio Leonardia this week. They will have a swimwear pre-pageant at The Palisades on Sept. 13, where they will also be presented to the press.

The pageant night will be held at the University of St. La Salle coliseum, on Oct. 18, Gamboa added.*
