PCGA inducts 11 members

The Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary 602.12 Sea Hawk Division in Bacolod City recently inducted 11 new members, its press release said.

They are lieutenants Edward and Perry Ong, Joel Tanaid, Angelito Dumapi, Napoleon Conmigo, Arthur Yap, Radjie Caram Jr. and Cesar Angcon, Lcdrs. Manuel Ong, Juan Ramon Jalandoni and Willam Chua, the press release also said.

The induction rite was witnessed by Capt. Gert Heyns, deputy for Operation of Coast Guard Auxiliary District Western Visayas; Capt. Albert Lim Jr., director of 602.12 PCGA Division; Cdr Eduardo Villanueva, deputy division director of 602.12; and Capt. Mario Jocson, deputy for Operation of the 602 nd PCGA Squadron, the press release added.*

Outreach program benefits
300 kids, adults in Pontevedra

An outreach program that benefited around 300 children and adults was conducted by the Bacolod City Sampaguita Lions Club at the relocation site in Brgy. Recreo, Pontevedra town, Negros Occidental, recently, a press release from the club said.

The project included free feeding, donation of new and old books for elementary school students, volleyballs and basketballs to the youths, and coloring books with crayons to daycare pupils, the press release also said.

Presbyopic patients were given eyeglasses after taking their blood pressure, and the club donated P2,000 to the Franciscan Sisters for the repair of playground equipment, as its members helped clean the playground.

The activity was attended by Lions president Dang Filasol, first vice president Mitzi Mijares, and members Terry Falsis and Sharon Jornadal; Pontevedra Sangguniang Bayan member Reymar Gurrea, barangay captains Armando Nombers, Arnold Lamela, and Carlos Esquerra, kagawads Ramon Gasapo and Nita Casugod, daycare teacher Regine Sapra, midwife Reynalda Malacad, and health worker Nida Manzati, the press release added.*

Masses in honor of St.
Nicholas de Tolentino set

Septenary masses will be held by the University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos in honor of its patron saint, San Nicolas de Tolentino, until September 9, a press release from the school said.

Fr. Abraham Latoza celebrated mass yesterday on St. Nicholas, a wanted child.

The celebrants for other masses, to be held at 8 a.m. at the Oratory of St. Nicholas of Tolentino at UNO-R, are Fr. Louie Gabinete, on St. Nicholas, a child with earnest thoughts, today; Fr. Joseph Dexter Palagtiosa, St. Nicholas, spreading the good odor of Christ, Sept. 5; Fr. Cornelio Moral, the apostolic zeal and spirit of prayer, Sept. 6; Fr. Roland Cepe, Star of Tolentino, Sept. 7; Fr. Rouel Sia, Devotions to Mary and the Blessed Loaves, Sept. 9; Fr. Jorge Peligro, St. Nicholas, the patron of the Poor Souls in Purgatory, Sept. 9, the press release also said.

Fr. Emeterio Buñao will be the main celebrant in the concelebrated mass at 8 a.m. September 10, at the UNO-R gym, after the 5:30 a.m. procession, the press release added.*

9th PICE conference set
Sept. 7-8 in Bacolod

Seven chapters of the Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers in Western Visayas will sponsor the 9th Region VI technical conference and election of PICE-Negros Occidental 2013 officers and directors September 7 to 8 at the Sugarland Hotel in Bacolod City, a press release from the group said.

The technical conference of PICE Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, Neg. Occ. (Host) and San Carlos City-Negros Occidental, has the theme “PICE Empowers Community Leaders through Experiential Learning.” It aims to foster unity and camaraderie among members and to discuss vital issues that affect the civil engineering practice, the press release also said.

Expected to be attended are about 400 members from the seven chapters in Region VI. A registration fee of P2,500 for Panay delegates, and P2,300 regular fee will be collected.
