MS Tablet beats Davies
in BBTHS alumni tourney

A 34-6 first quarter run for MS Tablet spelled the doom for Davies/Mang Inasal as competition intensified in the Bacolod Tay Tung High School Alumni Basketball Tournament at the Po Hang Gym, over the weekend.

Joseph Don Hugo sizzled with 17 points and Brian Tan added seven as MS Tablet unleashed its power on Davies to top Bracket B of the tournament.

Davies managed to cut the lead in the second quarter as Kenneth Cusay and Bobby Yap scored 12 points and 10 points, respectively, to outscore MS Tablet but the latter remained ahead, 48-33 at halftime.

Launching a fast game in the third quarter courtesy of Ian Moyani, Victor Go, Renz Campos and Beboy Yap, Davies threatened to wrestle the lead but Peter Galon delivered eight points and Johnnyson Yu added seven points to allow MS Tablet to keep the lead at 67 – 57 going into the payoff quarter.

Refusing to go away, Davies/Mang Inasal cut the lead to a single digit at six points with Moyani and Kenneth Cusay launching fastbreak attacks but Galon, Yu and Morales, once again bailed MS Tablet out of trouble to seal the victory and keep an unblemished 4-0 win-loss record.

Galon led MS Tablet with 18 points. Joseph Hugo added 17 points, Johnnyson Yu had 11, and Allan Pol Morales scored 9 points.

Topscoring for Davies/ Mang Insal was Cusay with 17 points while Renz Campos tallied 14 and Ian Moyani finished with 9 points.

Other games saw ELL Cargo beating Team 8, 76 – 70; BTTHS juniors thrashing NHK 76 – 58; Davies Paint cruising past Chowking 87 – 74; Avenue Suite prevailing over Team 10, 100 – 86; and Willtrade/Phoenix and BTTHS juniors battling to a 97-draw.
