Dragon vs. Rams in TBAC final

Silver Dragon Construction beat JMCA, 84-73, while UNOR-Rams got past GWN Enterprises, 80-77, in the semifinals Sunday for a titular showdown at 6 tonight in the Talisay Basketball Athletic Club-sponsored 1 st Open Basketball Tournament at the Talisay Gym.

In taming JMCA, Rolly Jaca paced Silver Dragon with 18 points, while Atoy Salazar and Joemarie Bayhon scored 11 points apiece to dominate the game.

Oquendo and Bacellote scored 17 points each, but it was not enough to stop the Silver Dragon from advancing to the championship round.

In the other semis match, the Rams secured the second finals seat as Cedrick Eslabon led the UNO-R offense with 26 points, 13 of them in the first quarter.

GWN cut the lead to six points in the second quarter, 46-40, behind Antonio Dela Peña's eight points.

The Rams kept GWN at bay in the third quarter with a five-point lead at 62-57.

It was a tight ballgame in the fourth quarter as Bocablo scored a quick four points as GWN tied the score at 62-all with still 7 minutes and 30 second left in the game.

GWN finally wrestled the lead at 67-65 two free throws of Bryan Alunan, while Sonny Abaring made it 68-65 as he split his free throws getting fouled in transition play.

Eslabon also split his charities while teammate Mac Mac Segador converted his two free throws for the second deadlock of the ballgame at 68-all.

It was a seesaw battle until a missed lay up by Abaring that allowed the Rams to gain back the lead at 73-69.

With 2:38 left, officials slapped both teams with double technical as their players left the bench during a near brawl sparked by a scuffle between Bocablo and Eslabon.

Cool heads prevailed and five straight points from the Rams iced the game in their favor.*NAB
