27th Negros Trade Fair
set to go ‘beyond limits’

The 27th Negros Trade Fair, organized annually in Metro Manila, will be held Sept. 26-30, at the Rockwell Tent in Makati City, a press release from organizers said.

Inspired by the theme Beyond Limits, it will feature innovative products from the five sectors of the Association of Negros Producers that include Fashion, Furniture, Gifts and Housewares, Food, and Organic and Natural Products, the press release said.

More than 70 booths will sell new designs in bags, jewelry, fashion accessories, children’s apparel, furniture, home décor pieces, housewares, gift items, organic and natural food and personal care products, packaged Ilonggo delicacies, and hot food for dining, the press release said.

‘More mulberry farmers,
loom weavers needed’

The Department of Trade and Industry in Negros Occidental said the demand for mulberry farmers is high and can supply the raw materials for silk yarn and thread production.

Engiemar Tupas, acting business development division chief of DTI, said yesterday that about 250 farmers in Negros are planting mulberry which is the basic food nutrient for silk worms that are fed 24 hours.

When they develop into cocoons, they are harvested and processed in the reeling plant to produce the silk yarn and silk thread which are the main materials for barong and shawls, Tupas added.

Talk for SMEs slated

Planters Bank, the SME Bank in Bacolod City, is bringing basketball coach Chot Reyes for its small and medium enterprise speaker series tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. at the Bacolod Business Inn, Engiemar Tupas of the Department of Trade and Industry, said.

Reyes will discuss on strengthening business though leadership and teamwork.

Tupas said Reyes has been providing executive coaching to about 500 top corporations in the country and has addressed and trained managers, executives.
