A tree-planting activity on September 15 will highlight the celebration of the National Peace Consciousness Month by the Oriental Negros Children’s Advocacy Network.
Program convenor Marietta Jambora of ONCAN said the activity aims to promote the awareness of the importance of peace and development. She said the group decided to include the tree-planting activity as part of the greening program of the government.
Community Environment and Natural Resources officer, Mario Aragon, said they will provide seedlings of special ornamental trees to be planted at the roadside of San Jose going to the Twin Lakes of Balinsasayao in Sibulan town.
The activity is supported by the Philippine Army, Philippine National Police, Visayan Forum, People Power Volunteer for Reform and the provincial government of Oriental Negros.
The ONCAN has been doing peace and development work, like the lakbay-aral for children living in the hinterlands and insurgency-affected areas of the province.*MA
