Tutay celebrates
birthday with intensity!

ivy

Wow! What a birthday celebration it was when DAILY STAR board chairman, Tutay Corral, celebrated his birthday at Benjamin Hall recently.

The place was packed with Tutay’s friends and relatives, who came in “hurricane force”, to wish him a happy birthday. On hand to help him welcome his guests was his lovely wife, Marissa, a well-known interior designer. After the invocation by Fr. Rolly, Marissa bade the guests to “attack” the buffet table groaning with culinary delights specially prepared for the occasion.

Guests thoroughly enjoyed the scrumptious feast of limitless fresh pink salmon (a birthday gift from boxing champ Manny Paquiao sent all the way from GenSan). This dish was truly “to-die-for” – so succulent and tasty that Carla Gomez kept going back for seconds, thirds, fourths (?). We loved the Paella Valenciana, tender rib roasts, pasta and so many more dishes (including the decadent desserts), that made us forget our diet all evening. By the time the dinner ended, we were on an incredible roll.

A big surprise awaited us when Tutay’s only brother, Danny (who came all the way from the USA with his beautiful wife Meya), went up the stage and sang, “The Way You Look Tonight”. We were so enthralled by his voice (ala Vic Damone or Tony Bennet), that we didn’t notice the chandeliers swaying to and fro. Suddenly, we could feel the floor beneath us eerily moving and everyone looked around fearfully as we realized what it was – earthquake!

But like a true trouper, Danny kept on singing while the band played on. It was only afterwards when it was all over that we excitedly described the spine-tingling experience we just had.

Whew! Wotta unforgettable birthday celebration it turned out to be – Tutay’s intensity 5 birthday bash!*
