Another suspect in the killing of a businessman in Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City, Sunday surrendered to Station 6 policemen at about 3 p.m. yesterday.
Station 6 commander, Chief Insp. Noel Polines, said Tomas Libo-on, 58, of Brgy. Taculing, Bacolod, had sent surrender feelers to them on Tuesday through his wife, whose name he did not disclose.
Polines picked Libo-on up in Brgy. Yubo, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental, where he had been hiding after the killing of Ricardo Pugoy, “alias Nonoy”, of Brgy. 27 Sunday.
Libo-on told the police that it was Kagawad Nelson Viñas, 68, of Purok Singko Brgy. 41, Bacolod, who shot Pugoy and not him. He also said that Pugoy, who was on his motorcycle, tailed the trisikad they were riding and fired a shot at them.
Viñas had surrendered to Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, who picked him up in Brgy. Felisa, Monday. Viñas admitted having shot Pugoy but invoked self defense.
Libo-on, who is now detained at Station 6, said he and Pugoy had a misunderstanding after the businessman allegedly stabbed his relative while they were attending a wake sometime in 2010, Polines said.
Pugoy died from a through-and-through wound in the neck at the Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital four hours after the shooting.*APN back
