Agriculture survey

The National Statistics Office in Negros Occidental will hold a survey on the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture, Oct. 7, an NSO press release said.

It will register all farmers, farm laborers and fishermen in the province and collate information about the basic sectors in agriculture.

The Registry System of for Basic Sectors in Agriculture was designed to create a database that contains information about farmers, farm laborers and fishermen, such as their basic demographic profile, socio-economic profile, and other information that relate to the household where they belong, the press release said.

This database will be used to provide basic data for national and/or subnational development planning on the country’s agriculture and fishery sectors, it added.

President Benigno Aquino IIII, chairperson of Cabinet Cluster on Good Governance and Anti-Corruption Cluster included the database or registry of farmers, farm laborers, and fishermen in the list of key programs for the Digitalization and Information Technology in Government Subcluster, the press release said.

In Negros Occidental, 662 barangays with an estimated 647, 005 households will be enumerated.

The registration period will end on November 7.*
