Cristina, Noel and Mae Ann, Winnie and Jacqueline de Asis surprised their mom, Nena Piccio de Asis, on her 68th birthday with a celebration at the spacious and beautiful home of Noel and Mae Ann de Asis, recently.
We arrived a bit early and feasted on the delicious santol, rambutan and lanzones, grown in their garden (Laguerta) in Concepcion, Talisay, and also on imported nuts sent by their son Don-Don, who is a nurse in New York. Another son, Kristofer, also missed the occasion because of a family business in Manila.
Youngest sibling Nicolai de Asis, only son of Noel and Mae Ann, said grace before dinner. Then everybody enjoyed the mouthwatering dishes, both catered and home-cooked.
At around 9 p.m., Mommy Nena’s two grandchildren arrived from Manila: Krisha, who is a graduating European studies student of Ateneo, and Camille, a pre-med student at the University of Sto. Tomas.
We went home late with “baon” of santol, lanzones and rambutan.
To dear Nena, Happy Birthday and God bless you and your family.*
Remember: The verse “Don’t be afraid” appears 365 times in the Bible. Enough assurance that for each day of the year, we can trust God to face everything with Him.*
