Abang Lingkod
stages picket

BY LISA GAPAC

About 500 supporters of the partylist Abang Lingkod marched along the streets of Bacolod City yesterday and picketed in front of the office of the Negros Occidental Commission on Election.

Ben Solilapsi, secretary general of Isang Damayan ng mga Social Worker na Dakila, said they want to prove to COMELEC that the accusation against their party is false and that they have members, and represent the marginalized sector.

The members submitted their endorsements to COMELEC for the inclusion of the partylist group in the 2013 elections, and said they are willing to prove that they are genuine and existing, he said.

He also claimed that Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas and Kilusang Mayo Uno have filed a petition for disqualification before the COMELEC, which he said was unfair to them as they had been accredited and have participated in the 2010 elections.

He also said they are contemplating to file a libel case against the groups.

Progressive organizations like 1DSWD, Democratic Association of Labor Organizations, Movement for Agrarian Rural Advancement, and Katilingban sang mga Organisasyon sang Imol sa Syudad, Inc., also support the partylist, Solilapsi added. *LTG
