Shootout between
2 families yield guns

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The alleged shoot-out between members of two families in Brgy. Zone 1, Cadiz City Saturday, led to the arrest of four suspects and the recovery of four firearms, police said.

Although none of the members of the warring families was injured, a 10-year-old child was hit by a stray bullet during the exchange of fire among the suspects at a public cemetery in Brgy. Zone 1, Cadiz City, Inspector Gil John Despi, deputy police chief, said.

Cadiz policemen, who responded to the incident, arrested Ricky Quiatchon Sr. and his son, Ricky Jr., Reynaldo Tio and Emiliano Osorion.

Their arrest yielded a .38 caliber revolver, a .45 caliber pistol, a 357 magnum revolver and an Ingram 9mm automatic pistol with ammunition, Despi said.

The shoot-out incident between members of the Quiatchon and Tio families happened several days after John Rey Tio, nephew of Reynaldo, was apprehended by the Cadiz police headed by Supt. Noel Mana-ay, in Brgy. Bata, Bacolod City, by virtue of arrest warrants, for the crimes of attempted murder, and violation of the Comelec gun ban.

Despi said the injured minor, whose identity is being withheld, is now in stable condition, while charges for illegal possession of firearms are being readied for filing against the arrested suspects. * GPB
