Bizman backs generics law

Generics medicines have the same ingredients, content, and effect to the human body thanthat of branded drugs, businessman Ricky Enriquez, said Monday.

Enriquez, who has been in the drug storebusiness for several years, said his company is supportingRepublic Act 9502 or the Universally Accessible Cheaper and Quality Medicines Act of 2008 because it was passed, not only for the poor people but for all citizens of the country.

People often have this notion thatbranded drugs are more effective, but generic medicines are equally effective and their prices are more affordable, especially to the poor, he said.

Enriquez also said manufacturers of generic drugs have been certified by the Food and Drug Administration and granted licenses.*LTG
