P74-million hospital building
to be completed November

BY JUANCHO GALLARDE

The P74 million Outpatient Department of the Negros Oriental Provincial Hospital, funded by the European Community, is expected to be completed in November and fully operational in January next year.

Provincial Health Officer II Dante Domingo said the project has five components, and should not be compared to another OPD building of a hospital in Dumaguete, that costs about the same.

He said the NOPH-OPD will have a main building with three floors, a two-storey facility with private rooms, clinical areas, offices and ambulance bay, a powerhouse, and water cistern. The project also includes the renovation of the old OPD with several rooms.

Government engineers trained
on poverty alleviation projects

Seventy engineers from local governments in the Visayas recently participated in an inter-regional training on the implementation parameters of the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan–Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services of the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Cebu, a government press release said.

The weeklong training, called “Inter-Regional Water System, Roads and Bridges Construction, Operation and Maintenance of Kalahi-CIDSS",aimed to ensure that Kalahi projects implemented by LGUs are designed and implemented to respond to the needs of the community.

The participants brought site validation reports and actual survey data on the infrastructure needs in their communities, which were results of the participatory situational analysis (PSA) earlier conducted in their areas, the press release said.
