MassKara dance showdown
screening set September 24

The screening for the 2012 GMA DanssKara: The MassKara Dance Showdown will be held 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. September 24 at the SM City Events Centre, a press release from organizers said.

Festival director Eli Tajanlangit said the showdown, now on its second year, hopes to highlight another breed of dancers to make the MassKara celebration accessible to everybody.

Dancers do not have to wear elaborate costumes and masks, as dancing can be simple with low-tech masks. The competition is accessible to more people, but at the same time, reflects the dynamism of the festival, he added in the press release.

It is open to any dance group, with eight to 12 dancers. Any dance form or canned music is allowed, provided the dancers must incorporate masks in their performance. Face-painting and character make-up are also allowed, the press release also said.

The elimination round will be on October 1, after the opening ceremony of the 2012 MassKara Festival at the Bacolod public plaza, while the grand finals will be on October 22, after the closing ceremony of the festival, also at the plaza.

Interested groups may secure the entry forms from GMA TV Office, 3rd floor Security Bank Building, Rizal-Locsin streets, Bacolod City, or call the station’s Events and Promo Department at (034)-4346254, the press release added.*
