Regional director, Ponciano Ligutom, of the Department of Labor and Employment yesterday reminded all employers to implement Wage Order No. 20 that was approved by the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board early this year.

The wage order provides for the P12 increase in the minimum wage making it P277 for companies employing more than 10 workers, P235 for companies with 10 workers for the commercial sector and P245 for plantation and P235 for non-plantation for the agriculture sector, Ligutom said.

He also said that upon approval, the DOLE has publicized the wage order on May 16 in the “Hublas Kamatooran” local newspaper.

He said that if employers are caught not implementing the order, the DOLE will give them respective notices and give them deadlines to comply with it.

The DOLE will issue another order if employers still refuse to comply with the first directive, pointing out that the agency has the power to freeze bank accounts of employers if they fail to pay correct wages, Ligutom said.*LTG
