Suarez named MVP
in Philta tournament

Stefan Suarez, son of former Davis Cup campaigner Raymund “Boom Boom” Suarez from Manila, bagged a double championship to be adjudged as Most Valuable Player in the Philta-Palawan Pawnshop Regional Age-Group Championships held at the Center Court Tennis Club in Bacolod City.

Suarez topped the boys’ 16-Under event beating Rodolfor Barquin of San Carlos City, and Fernando Arguelles of PTA Bacolod.

Earlier, Arguelles also yielded to Godfrey Seno of Cebu in the boys’ 14-Under group, while Karl Baran of La Carlota City defeated Matthew Flores from Central Philippine Universityas Fernado Ceazar Po of host Bacolod City prevailed over Cesar Salimbangon of Cebu.

In the girls’ 12-Under age-group, Kristin Salimbangon of Cebu edged Valerie Desoyo of La Carlota to bounce back from after bowing to Desoyo’s teammate, Toni Rose Raymundo earlier.

Raymundo also suffered defeat in the hands of Ilongga Herra Jean Sunio, while Keanna Flores beat Dionelyn Perez in girls’ 18-Under group.

The next leg of the tournament will be held in La Carlota City this weekend.*NAB
