Guard shoots,
injures two minors

BY ADRIAN NEMES III

Two minors, who allegedly tried to barge into a warehouse at the Bacolod City reclamation area, were shot and injured by a security guard at about 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Security Guard Carlito Sacil, 22, of Crossing Plaridel, Sagay City, Negros Occidental, Bacolod, and employed by the Redeemer Security Agency, is now detained at Police Station 1, City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz, said.

Policemen seized an Armscor 12-guage shotgun with ten bullets for the same firearm, from Sacil and a spent shell of the same caliber from the crime scene.

The minors, aged 14 and 12, both of Purok Magtiayon, Brgy. 10, are now confined at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, he said.

De la Paz added that the 14-year old had gunshot wounds on his buttocks and left thigh while the 12-year-old has a wound on his back.

Sacil claimed that the minors were creeping though the Kuntel warehouse, where he is detailed, causing him to fire warning shots but De la Paz, however, said that a security guard can only fire his gun for self defense, or to protect his family member.

De la Paz said they are investigating the case to find out whether the shooting of the minors was justified or not, otherwise, the security guard will face criminal charges.*APN
