DAR holds mass processing
of claims for landholdings

The Department of Agrarian Reform-North of Negros Occidental is conducting a mass processing of claim folders to 20 landholdings for submission to the Land Bank for valuation before Oct. 15, Enrique Paderes, PARO-North, said yesterday.

Paderes said the landholdings cover 1,000 hectares, while another 8,000 hectares have already been processed and are now in the advanced stage for the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform coverage.

After the valuation with the bank, the DAR can distribute the lands to agrarian reform beneficiaries by December, he said.

Paredes also said the mass processing will maximize their time and resources and outputs and to address their problem of lack of personnel.

Paderes said that for 2012, DAR-North has to cover and distribute 11,790 hectares and, based on their field investigation reports, they are confident that they will reach their target by December.

"We are positive that we will reach the target with the support of Land Bank and the approval of the land management section of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources on the plans for the land use," Paderes added. *LTG
