Bacolod City Police Director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz yesterday announced the reinstatement of Supt, Santiago Rapiz as head of the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group after his three-month suspension ended.
Rapiz was ordered suspended by the Office of the Deputy Ombudsman for the Military and other law enforcement agencies in June, on complaint of Carlota Villadar of Escalante City, for simple neglect of duty.
On his first day yesterday, Rapiz and his team seized P7,000 worth of suspected shabu in a drug buy-bust operation in Brgy. 2, Bacolod City. The drug peddler they were supposed to arrest was, however, able to escape.
Rapiz said they conducted the buy-bust operation against John Paul Salazar, 21, of Purok Sigay, Brgy. 2 at about 2:40 p.m. yesterday and had to arrest him after he handed a small sachet of suspected shabu in exchange for P300 to a police poseur-buyer.
However, when Salazar sensed that he was dealing with policemen, he immediately fled and escaped through the back door of his house, Rapiz also said.
Five elongated sachets of suspected shabu and several illegal drug paraphernalia were recovered from the house of Salazar during the police search, a police record showed.
CAIDSOG also arrested Rutchie Soguillon, 27 and Nancy Canlas, 23, both of Purok Sigay in a buy-bust operation at about 3:45 p.m. Thursday.
Soguillon was apprehended after she handed a small sachet of suspected shabu to a poseur buyer in exchange for P500, while Canlas was arrested for having five elongated sachets of the banned substance, a plastic straw used as a scoop and P1,240, suspected to be proceed from the sale of illegal drugs.
De la Paz ordered Rapiz, who will also head the Special Operations Group and designated as BCPO spokesman, to intensify the campaign against illegal drugs, especially in schools.*APN back
