San Jose mayor promises
lot for new police station

BY JUDY F. PARTLOW

Mayor Carmelo Remollo of San Jose, Negros Oriental, has promised to find a lot to house the new police station of the town.

He said the existing station, a one level building, was constructed more than a decade ago during the time of then Mayor Fe Montaño, and sits on a 400 square-meter lot behind the town hall.

His assurance came after the recent donation of firearms, communications equipment, two motorcycles and a police patrol car, worth about P1.2 million in local funds to the San Jose police, to boost their peace and order, and anti-crime operations.

Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office director, Senior Supt. Edward Carranza, said that if the local government unit can donate a 500 square-meter lot to the PNP, funds for the construction of a new police station can be sourced from the budget of the police.

A few LGUs in Negros Oriental have already donated lots to the PNP and have been calendared for inclusion in the budget for the construction of new police stations.*JFP
