NOTAFA to spearhead
fund drive for Suanque

The Negros Occidental Track and Field Association will hold `Walk-For-A-Cause’ fund-raising activity on September 30 in Bacolod City, to raise funds and help save the life of former Philippine sprinter and Negros Occidental athletics standout Marife Suanque-Guili,

Suanque has been diagnosed with cervical cancer and her friends and former teammates have been appealing for help for her medical expenses.

In response to the call for assistance, NOTAFA president Roger Banzuela said they agreed to hold the `Walk-For-A-Cause’, that will start at 6 a.m. from the New Government Center to Bacolod City National High School, passing through the Circumfeerential Road and Doña Juliana Heights. Registration fee will be P20 for students and P50 or more for professionals.

Ilog holds sports meet

Student athletes in Ilog town joined the Municipal Sports and Cultural Meet, held September 7 at the Ilog Elementary School, a press release from organizers said.

Representatives from the two district schools in the town, participated in sports and cultural events where the winners will represent Ilog in the 6th District Area Meet set next month.

At the opening of the meet, Ilog mayor John Paul Alvarez hoisted the Municipal Sports Council Banner, while school supervisors Caridad Ablao and Elna Flores raised the delegation banners, the press release said.

Genesis Football Club
dominate local bootfest

The Genesis Football Club based in Bacolod City grabbed two titles in the 2nd Carl Lopez Football Festival held recently at the Bacolod City National High School pitch, a press release from organizers said.

The Genesis booters beat Wildfox FC in Under-12 boys’ division then prevailed over A. Mabini Elementary School in the Under-10 boys’ category to capture two championships in the tournament.

La Salle Futboleras reigned in the girls’ Under- l7 competition by beating the NSC Futboleras, while Rizal Football Club outplayed St. Scholastica’s FC in the girls’ Under-l2 event, while Teletech FC won the championship in men’s open against Mabini Alumni FC, the press release said.*
