Negros, Bacolod
getting more cops

BY GILBERT BAYORAN

The Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office received 179 more police personnel from the 6th Regional Public Safety Battalion, to boost its anti-criminality operations, especially in the months of September, October, November and December.

On the other hand, the Bacolod City Police Office will be augmented by 61 more policemen, police sources said.

The 240 neophyte policemen and women assigned at NOPPO and BCPO effective Sept. 15, are part of the 621 police officers downloaded from the 6th RPSB, after serving at least two years in the police unit.

Chief Supt. Agrimero Cruz, regional police director of Western Visayas, said he believes the additional personnel contingents will strengthen the peace and order campaign of the police stations.

Cruz, who expressed his commitment to make the holiday season in Region 6 crime-free during the “ber-months”, said he wants police commanders to intensify their visibility operations in areas of convergence, to prevent the surge of street crimes.

Of the 621 police officers, 165 went to the Iloilo Provincial Police Office, Iloilo City Police Office – 67, Antique Provincial Police Office -52, Capiz Provincial Police Office -48, Aklan Provincial Police Office -36 and 13 to the Guimaras Provincial Police Office. * GPB
