Robbery, assault raps to be filed
versus 4 men, Bacolod police say

Charges for robbery and direct assault of a person in authority will be filed against four men who entered the compound of a telecommunication cell site in Hillside Subdivision, Brgy. Alijis, Bacolod City, Saturday and shot responding policemen.

Station 7 commander, Chief Insp. Levy Pangue, said the charges will be filed against Allan Baticados, 22, of Brgy. 6, and his three companions, who evaded arrest, before the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office.

Two of the three suspects who escaped have been identified but Pangue refused to give their names pending their arrests. Baticados, meanwhile, is still confined at the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital for a gunshot wound on his right knee.

Security guard Demmy Parcon, employed by the Tri-Gold Security Agency and detailed at the cellsite, sought police help when he saw three unidentified men inside the compound.

One of the suspects fired at the responding policemen, who retaliated and hit Baticados. The suspects fled but Baticados was later nabbed while hiding in a house in Brgy. Alijis, police reports show.

Two empty shells of a .38 caliber revolver, a pair of iron sheet scissors, pliers, and a wrench, believed to have been left behind by the suspects, as well as two 11-plate batteries and three crude oil containers, all valued at P20,000 and owned by Smart Telecommunications, were recovered at the crime scene.

Pangue told the DAILY STAR that Baticados’ group is also responsible for other robbery incidents in houses and cell sites in Brgy. Mansilingan.

The Warrant and Subpoena Section of the Bacolod City Police Office and members of the Cauayan PNP also arrested a man wanted for robbery in the town at the about 4:30 p.m. yesterday.

BCPO director Senior Supt. Ricardo de la Paz said Manuelito Sueto of Brgy. 30 in the city was arrested by virtue of an arrest warrant issued by Regional Trial Court Branch 48 Judge Gorgonio Ybañez, who set his bail at P200,000.*APN

Councilor, companion
hurt in mishap

A Sangguniang Bayan councilor and his companion were injured in the collision of two vehicles Sunday in Brgy. Taloc, Bago City, Negros Occidental, police records show.

Police identified the wounded as Moises Padilla Councilor Antonio Marvin Tan, 36, and his companion, Ella Yulo, 38. They were reported to be in stable condition at the Dr. Pablo O. Torre Memorial Hospital in Bacolod City.

Police investigations show that a Suzuki Carry vehicle, driven by Felix Mathias Segundo, accidentally collided with a similar vehicle, driven by Julius Tuando, on which Tan and Yulo, were riding.

The vehicular accident is being investigated by the Traffic Section of the Bago City Police Station.

Meanwhile, four unidentified persons armed with handguns and wearing bonnets, waylaid and robbed at gunpoint a fish vendor and his two helpers, who were on their way to a fish market in Brgy. Tabao, Valladolid, Sunday.

Fish vendor Ricardo Bargollo, and his two helpers, Obrado Galiares and Jose Panes, all residents of Brgy. Aguisan, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, were divested of P10,000 in cash, two cellular phones, two checks amounting to P63,000, a Seiko wristwatch worth P7,000, and a silver bracelet worth P4,000.*GPB

Trisikad driver hunted for
stabbing neighbor

A trisikad driver is being hunted by the police for allegedly stabbing his neighbor in Brgy. 13, Bacolod City, at about 4:50 p.m. Sunday.

Case investigator, Police Officer 2 Johnny dela Peña, said the suspect, identified as Estoy Villanueva, stabbed Robert Mortez, 35, of Purok Boulevard, Brgy. 13, with a broken bottle, then fled.

Mortez sustained stab wounds on his left arm and armpit and was rushed to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital, where he is now confined.

Meanwhile, two teenagers were apprehended allegedly for illegal possession of bladed weapons Saturday and Sunday at the Bacolod downtown area.

Police Officer 1 Edward Teodorico said he arrested Rex dela Cruz, 19, of Purok Cagaycay, Brgy. Banago, Bacolod, at the public plaza at about 8:10 a.m. Saturday, and seized a 12-inch long bladed weapon from him.

A team led by Police Officer 2 Alfred Tumalaytay also nabbed Shim Malabja, 19, of Villa Angela, Brgy. Vista Alegre, Bacolod, in possession of a 17-inch butcher’s knife at Luzuriaga Street, in the city, at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday.*RQB
