Trading firm under probe
over ‘fake’ export papers

A sugar trading firm is under investigation by the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office over alleged falsification of export documents, a press release from the Sugar Master Plan Foundation said.

Masagana Import Export Inc. is being probed over the complaint of the Sugar Anti-Smuggling Organization against the firm’s stockholders, directors and officers of on five export documents allegedly covering a total of 30,741 bags or more than 1.5 million kilograms of sugar submitted by the company which were allegedly spurious.

The Bureau of Customs Export Division’s Louis Adviento earlier certified that no export documents were issued to the company since January, the press release said.

The fine crafts of Negrense Manon Campos Hernaez are ready for the 27th Negros Trade Fair slated Sept. 26-30 at the Rockwell Tent in Makati City, a press release from event organizers said.

After Hernaez began to venture into crafting beads and bangles, it was a long process of experiments until she got the finish that she wanted. Later she had to scour car shops and machine shops that could replicate the process she perfected, the press release said.

Her latest collection can be viewed by trade fair visitors at the Marayo Booth A66, it added.

Coco farmers ask SC:
Probe funds decision

MANILA – Coconut farmers yesterday filed before the Supreme Court a complaint asking that there should be a full recovery of the multi-billion coco levy funds.

In a three-page complaint, the farmers asked the SC Committee on Ethics and Ethical Standards headed by Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno to investigate the alleged questionable April 12, 2011 SC ruling.

The ruling declared the 20 percent share holdings in San Miguel Corp of businessman Eduardo Cojuangco is not ill-gotten.
