NegOr police get tourist shirts
BY MARICAR ARANAS

Department of Tourism 7 director Rowena Lu Montecillo turned over 122 tourist police uniforms to the Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office during a courtesy call Thursday at the NOPPO headquarters in Agan-an, Sibulan.

Deputy provincial director, Supt. Alet Virtucio, accepted the uniforms for the 61 police personnel earlier trained as tourist cops by the DOT.

He said the uniforms will boost the morale of the police while assisting tourists and visitors, as it is important for them to look clean and neat.

Montecillo said the polo shirts were the first in the batch of uniforms given to tourist cops. Additional apparel like shorts and caps will be purchased from accredited stores in Cebu or Manila, to be funded by the national government.

She said the presence of tourist police can boost the confidence of visitors in their safety and protection, adding that Negros Oriental is identified as one of the most peaceful provinces and safe destinations in Central Visayas.*MA
